I read about the mandala installation at the Asia Society Texas Center with monks from the Drepung Loseling Monastery, and I knew that I wanted to go. I had seen a manadala at the Menil in 2014, and it had been worth the time to visit and photograph the monks layering all the colors and details. It was a similar experience at the Asia Society, except this time I was able to attend the opening, and get some coverage of the process from the first to the last day. Viewing the process of creating and then erasing the mandala over the course of four days, while capturing the details in camera, was a way to slow down during the time that I was there.
